Description

Sicista betulina Pallas, 1779. Nova Spec. Quad. Glir. Ord., p. 332.

TYPE LOCALITY: U.S. S. R., Novosibirsk. Obi., Baraba Steppe, mouth of Ishim River.

DISTRIBUTION: Boreal and montane forests from Norway and Denmark to Ussuri region (China and S.E. Siberia, U.S. S.R.), north to Arctic Circle at White Sea, south to Austria, Carpathian, Caucasus and Sayan Mtns.

COMMENT: Pallas' type specimen is probably not preserved (AEM).
