Description

Berardius bairdii Stejneger, 1883. Proc. U.S. Natl. Mus., 6:75.

TYPE LOCALITY: Russia, Commander Isis, "found stranded in Stare Gavan, on the eastern shore of Bering Island".

DISTRIBUTION: North Pacific: temperate waters.

STATUS: CITES - Appendix I.

SYNONYMS: vegae.

COMMENTS: Reviewed by Balcomb (1989); possibly a subspecies of arnuxii, see Davies (1963) and McLachlan et al. (1966).
