Description

Parosmodes Holland, 1896

Of the three described species of this Afrotropical genus (Ackery et al. 1995), we have reared only P. morantii morantii (Trimen) the eastern subspecies of the widespread P. morantii. Vuattoux (1999) reared the western subspecies, P. moranti axis Evans once from Combretum racemosum (Combretaceae) in Côte d’Ivoire. The two subspecies will need to be separated as valid species (T.B. Larsen pers. comm. 2012).
