Analytical Study of Water and Irrigation in Maharashtra

Description

Agriculture dependent on rainfall alone cannot produce a fixed form of production.  For that, it is very necessary to have artificial facilities of water supply.  Due to water supply, it is possible to increase the agricultural production and to cultivate in modern ways.  The vagaries of nature are the curse of agriculture.  One of the biggest risks in agricultural production is the uncertainty of rainfall, which ultimately leaves farmers' income uncertain.  Regarding the Indian situation, it is said that if we consider an average of five years, three years out of them are the same.  A year is very bad i.e. drought and a year is good.  Due to this uncertainty of rainfall, there is also uncertainty in agricultural production and to eliminate it, there should be facilities of artificial water supply
