Uncertain, but the type locality is generally accepted to be Mt Kilimanjaro, NE Tanzania; there are further reports of this species throughout W & E Africa (including some recent ones from Uganda), but they cannot be confirmed since most of the specimens have been wrongly attributed. in Soricidae
