These technical guidelines have been prepared by the technical support unit on knowledge and data and reviewed by the task force on knowledge and data within IPBES.

Part 9 of the technical guideline series, Considerations when working with Indigenous and local knowledge, provides practical guidance on how to work with Indigenous and Local Knowledge (ILK) within IPBES following the requirements in the IPBES data and knowledge management policy and free, prior, and informed consent (FPIC) as laid out in the IPBES methodological guidance on recognizing and working with indigenous and local knowledge.
