Earliest Resolution of the Neutrino Mass Ordering?

Description

The measurement of neutrino Mass Ordering (MO) is a fundamental element for the understanding of leptonic flavour sector of the Standard Model of Particle Physics. Despite existing MO indication today, a fully resolved MO measurement (≥5σ) is most likely to await for the next generation of neutrino experiments, such as JUNO, DUNE, and Hyper-Kamiokande, etc. Here we would like to emphasize that JUNO is the only experiment to measure MO via vacuum oscillations in the near future. In this poster we present the study in Sci. Rep. 12(1):5393 (2022) where we demonstrate a feasible path for possibly the earliest full (≥5σ) MO resolution through the combination of JUNO and the current generation of LBνB experiments (NOνA and T2K). This possibility is due to a powerful MO boosting synergy effect from the complementary and precise measurement of ∆m$^2_{32}$ by these experiments. A full resolved MO measurement could be boosted even before 2028. We also described a vacuum driven full MO resolution which can be compared to the matter effects driven full MO resolution. This comparison enables unique discovery exploration potential for physics beyond the Standard Model.
