Reduction of Esters to Related Alcohols
Description
Aluminium amalgam in alcohol has been found to be an efficient reducing agent for converting an ester grouping to the related alcohol. The method is easy to perform in the laboratory and is superior to other methods. when small quantities are to be reduced. Coper-chromium oxide method is hardly worthwhile with small qtiantities.
