Description
The Seifert and Schinz method for cycloalkenyl aldehydes has been extended to the synthesis of αβ-unsaturated aldehydes of aralkyl as well as aliphatic series. Convenient preparations of cinnamaldehyde, β-methyl-p-methoxy- and β-methyl-p-methoxy-cinnamaIdehyies, β-methylcrotonaldehyde and β-(6-methoxy-2-naphthyI)-acraldehyde are described.
