Organic Compounds of Lanthanide Elements. Part IV. Alcoholates of Praseodymium and Neodymium Chlorides

Description

The reactions of anhydrous praseodymiun and neodymium chlorides have been studied with different alcohols methanol, ethanol, isopropanol, and n-butanol) and compounds of the type MCI3. 3ROH have been isolated. Their trichloride monohydrates yield compounds with the general formula MCI3.H2O. 2 ROH The higher alcoholates could else be synthesised from lower ambulates by alcohol-interchange technique. The eonductances of alcoholic solution of anhydrous praseodymium chloride in methanol and ethanol have been measured. A spectrophotometric Andy of neodymium chloride tri-alcoholates (methanol, ethanol, said isopropanol derivatives) has been made.
