Studies on Some Azonium Derivatives

N-methyl-o-pheny!ene diamine has been condensed respectively with acenaphthenequinones, isatins and alsophenanthraquinone to synthesise azonium derivatives possessing deep tinctorial properties. Although, the attempt has not been amply realised but two green compounds were obtained in the acenaphthenequinone series. Azonium compounds derived from isatins and phenanthraquinone are golden yellow to violet-brown and lighter in colour than those from the nearly corresponding acenaphthenequinones.
