Polluce nella tradizione lessicografica

Description

The Onomasticon of Pollux provides many Greek names of plays. It is a lexicon
where the material is organized according to semantic fields or phonic similarity.
Pollux’ attitude was purist, although he considered many authors beside atticists
worthy of imitation and his work was more descriptive than prescriptive. In order to
understand the passages where Pollux gives names of plays, one should be attentive
to the ancient sources he uses and look for lexicographic parallels.
