Description

A stage pseudonym is a type of anthroponym, a fictitious personal name used by artists (singers, musicians) along with or instead of their real name. Many pseudonyms of Ukrainian singers are created on the basis of precedent names of universal and national markings. A precedent name is understood as an individual name associated with a well-known or precedent-setting situation.
Precedent names can be universal and national. Universal precedent onyms should be familiar to any recipient. They are part of the «universal» cognitive and cultural space. National precedents are known to any representative of a particular national linguistic culture and are a part of the national cognitive base.
Among the pseudonyms of modern Ukrainian singers are precedents of universal and national character. Universal precedent pseudonyms are primarily the names of famous artists, figures, scientists, mythological, literary, animated characters (SOLOMON, Alloise, Ejva, Jerry Heil). Nationally marked precedent names are well-known Ukrainian characters (SoloHa) or traditional Ukrainian names (Solomija).
«Onomastic charisma» plays a significant role in the selection of precedent pseudonyms. It is realized in the recognition of the authority of a certain name, its influence on the bearer, the belief that one's own name will "program" for success.
