Supplementary 1: FiloQuant analysis of filopodia.

Filopodia were quantified and measured with Image J plugin, FiloQuant. Analysis were performed as described by Jacquemet and collogues [14]. Region of interest (ROI) were selected on the original image (1). Intensity based thresholding of cell edge (2). Filopodia free edge (3) and filopodia are outlined based on intensity thresholding (4). Filopodia are then counted and measured by the program (5).
