The dissolution of zinc metal In aqueous hydrochloric acid solution (2N) was followed periodically by measuring the amount of evolved hydrogen. The inhibition efficiencies of these ,\(\beta\)-diketo compounds were evaluated as the percentage reduction Ia reaction rate. The results obtained were also compared with those employing thermome - tric method.
It is shown that \(\beta\)-diketo compounds act as corrosion inhibitors. The results obtained indicate that the adsorption of \(\beta\)-diketo compounds occurs over the zinc surface through their carbonyl groups and N-atom in two step adsorption processes.
