Material examined. 10 specimens: MNRJ 26934 (1, 501.0 mm), T, D-503; MNRJ 26935 (1, 372.0 mm), T, D-503; MNRJ 26936 (1, 496.0 mm), T, D-506; MNRJ 26937 (1, 536.0 mm), T, D-506; MNRJ 26938 (1, 487.0 mm), T, D-506; MNRJ 26939 (1, 528.0 mm), T, D-506; MNRJ 27078 (1, 475.0 mm), T, E-503; MNRJ 27079 (1, 455.0 mm), T, E-524; MNRJ 27095 (2, 193.0–366.0 mm), T, E-499.

Distribution. First record of Coelorinchus occa in the WSA. Collected from off Bahia, Espírito Santo and Rio de Janeiro, at depths from 714 to 1004 m. It was described from the Gulf of Mexico (28°34’ N, 86°48’ W), and was previously known from the Straits of Florida, Gulf of Mexico, southern part of Caribbean, and Surinam (Marshall & Iwamoto 1973a; Cohen et al. 1990).
