Description. Body yellowish brown (Figs. 10–12). Face with black ocellar and discoidal spots and dark pattern in central part. In certain specimens black pigmentation reduced partially or totally. Pronotum brown with more dark impressions between striae and sometimes with two black spots on fore margin behind eyes. Scutellum yellowish, with black triangular spots in both lateral corners and in posterior corner and with two round black spots in apical half on both sides of midline. In weakly pigmented specimens only traces of spots in side angles of scutellum remain. Forewings brown or yellowish, occasionally with dark transverse stripes in distal half. Female similar to male, but as a rule with more light coloration and less developed dark pattern. Also, in females reddish brown form without any dark pattern exists; males with such coloration not yet found.

Apodemes of 2nd abdominal tergite in male more or less rounded, of equal length and width, usually with a small denticle on outer margin of each lobe. Sternal apodemes triangular, with blunt tips bent towards each other (Fig. 62).

Pygofer processes simple, slender, distinctly bent forward (Fig. 61). Aedeagal shaft in lateral aspect rather broad, widest in middle, tapering uniformly towards apex, gonopore apical (Figs. 63–64). Shape of styles typical for willow-feeding Macropsis species (Fig. 65). Connective stout, with a finger-like protrusion in middle, both side arms twisted to dorsum (Figs. 66–67).

7th sternite in female triangular, tapering towards end, in midline 3 times as long as 6th one, posterior margin with a deep notch. 2nd valvulae with 8–11 additional teeth each (Fig. 68).

Body length (including tegmina): 3, 4.0–4.2 mm; Ƥ, 4.5–4.8 mm.

Host. On the territory of Russia was found on Salix udensis Trautv. et Meyer, S. schwerinii E. Wolf and in mixed thickets of S. viminalis L., S. rhamnifolia Pallas and S. glauca L.

Material examined. 4 3, 2 Ƥ, China: Qinghai province, Datong, Heiquanshuiku, 9. VII. 2007, collected by Chen Xiangsheng.

Distribution. China: Qinghai prov. (new record), Siberia, the Russian Far East.

Remark. An illustrated description and oscillograms of male calling signals of this species are given in Tishechkin (1999). Interpretation of M. flavida is accepted after Tishechkin (1999). Identification of M. recurvus is based on the original description and investigation of specimens from the type locality.
