Comments. Parapiophila baechlii was described by Merz (1996) from Switzerland. The specimens identified here represent the first Nearctic record of the species, which appears to be widespread in northern North America and the western mountains. We have also confirmed the presence of P. baechlii in Sweden and eastern Russia.
