Ecology. Eurybathic species, found at depths between 36 and 1890 m (Peña Cantero & Vervoort 2004), on muddy, sandy and stony bottoms and on bottoms composed of mud and sand or small stones (Broch 1948). Basibiont of many species of hydroids belonging to different genera (Peña Cantero et al. 1997; Peña Cantero & Vervoort 2004; Peña Cantero 2013, 2014). Gonothecae: December (Peña Cantero & Vervoort 2004), January and February (Peña Cantero et al. 1997; Peña Cantero & Vervoort 2004) and February (Peña Cantero 2013).

Distribution. Circum-Antarctic (Peña Cantero & Vervoort 1998). West Antarctica: off Elephant and Peter I islands (Broch 1948), the Weddell Sea (Peña Cantero et al. 1997), off Low Island (Peña Cantero & Vervoort 2004; Peña Cantero 2013) and from the Antarctic Peninsula area (Peña Cantero & Vervoort 2004). East Antarctica: off Adélie Land (cf. Peña Cantero et al. 1997), Wilkes Land, the Balleny Islands and the Ross Sea (Peña Cantero & Vervoort 2004), and off Queen Mary Coast (Peña Cantero 2014).
