Ecology. Eurybathic species, found at depths between 20 (Peña Cantero & Vervoort 2009) and 922 m (Peña Cantero & Ramil 2006), on muddy bottoms and on bottoms with small stones (Peña Cantero et al. 1997). Basibiont of other hydroids (Peña Cantero et al. 1997; Peña Cantero 2008). Gonothecae: January (Peña Cantero et al. 1997; Peña Cantero & Vervoort 2004; Peña Cantero & Ramil 2006; Peña Cantero 2008) and February (Peña Cantero et al. 1997; Peña Cantero 2008; Peña Cantero & Vervoort 2009).
Distribution. West Antarctic (Peña Cantero & Vervoort 1998), known from the Weddell Sea (Peña Cantero et al. 1997), off Elephant Island (Peña Cantero & García Carrascosa 1995), Bransfield Strait (Peña Cantero & Ramil 2006), off Deception Island (Peña Cantero & Vervoort 2004; Peña Cantero 2008), off Low Island (Peña Cantero 2013), and off King George Island (Peña Cantero & Vervoort 2009) and off Livingston Island (Peña Cantero 2008), in the South Shetland Islands.
