Ecology. Shelf species (Peña Cantero & Vervoort 1997), found at depths from 7 (Stepanjants 1972) to 412 m (Peña Cantero & Vervoort 2004), on bottoms of small rocks with red algae (Briggs 1938), sand and boulders (Naumov & Stepanjants 1972) and rocks, pebbles, sand and mud (Stepanjants 1979). Gonothecae: January (Briggs 1938; Stepanjants 1979), November (Stepanjants 1979) and December (Peña Cantero & Vervoort 2004, immature).
Distribution. Circum-Antarctic (Peña Cantero & Vervoort 2004). East Antarctica: Davis Sea (Briggs 1938; Stepanjants 1972), off Queen Mary Coast and Enderby Land (Naumov & Stepanjants 1962), off Adélie Coast (Naumov & Stepanjants 1972) and north of Wilkes Station, Budd Coast, Wilkes Land (Peña Cantero & Vervoort 2004). West Antarctica: off McDonald Ice Rumples, east coast of the Weddell Sea (Peña Cantero & Vervoort 2004).
