Description

Parapiophila vulgaris (Fallén)

NBP/NIS material examined. 32 ♂, 33 ♀ from the following sites: Manitoba: Churchill; Nunavut: Kugluktuk; Quebec: Schefferville (vi–vii.1962; vi–viii.1952; vii–viii.1961; vii.2011) (CNC, LEM).

Comments. Parapiophila vulgaris is widespread in the Nearctic (Duda 1924; Steyskal 1965) and Palaearctic (Zuska & Laštovka 1965; Lohm 1978; Ozerov 2004b; Martín-Vega et al. 2010). See comments under P. kugluktuk for characters distinguishing these two similar species.
