Description

Meteorus ictericus (Nees, 1811)

Distribution in Iran. Mazandaran (Farahani and Talebi 2012; Sedighi and Madjdzadeh 2015).

Distribution outside Iran. All Europe (Szépligeti 1904). Armenia, Australia, Austria, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Bulgaria, China, Croatia, Finland, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Kazakhstan, Korea, Latvia, Lithuania, Moldova, Netherlands, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Sweden, Switzerland, USA, Ukraine, United Kingdom, former Yug oslavia (Yu et al. 2012), Belgium (Wesmael 1835 as Perilitus ictericus; Yu et al. 2012), Czech Republic (Lozan et al. 2010; Yu et al. 2012), Denmark (Stigenberg and Ronquist 2011; Yu et al. 2012), France (Yu et al. 2012; Stigenberg and Shaw 2013), Hungary (Papp 2006; Yu et al. 2012), Israel (Papp 1988; Yu et al. 2012), Norway (Yu et al. 2012; Stigenberg and Hansen 2013), Portugal (Santos et al. 2008), Russia (Tobias 1971; Yu et al. 2012), Turkey (Yilmaz et al. 2010; Yu et al. 2012; Koldaş et al. 2013), UK (Marshall 1887; Marshall 1887 as Meteorus confinis; Marshall 1887 as M. consors; Broad and Shaw 2009; Yu et al. 2012; Stigenberg 2013; Stigenberg and Shaw 2013).

Host records. Meteorus ictericus is recorded on different lepidopteran families, with most records involving species of Tortricidae (Tobias 1971; Huddleston, 1980; Yu et al. 2012). It is reported as a parasitoid of Mompha conturbatella (Hübner) (Lepidoptera, Momphidae), Pyralis farinalis (Linnaeus) (Lepidoptera: Pyralidae), Bombyx sp. (Lepidoptera: Bombycidae) and hyperparasite of Gelis areator (Panzer) (Hymenoptera: Ichneumonidae) (Marshall 1885). It is also bred from Bryotropha domestica (Haworth) (Lepidoptera: Gelechiidae) (Marshall 1885). In Norway, it is reared from Pandemis sp. (Lepidoptera: Tortricidae) on Malus domestica (Stigenberg and Hansen 2013). It is also reared from Gracillaria syringella Fabricius, Caloptilia leucapennella (Stephens) (Lepidoptera: Gracillariidae),? Ypsolopha parenthesella (Linnaeus) (Lepidoptera: Ypsolophidae), Acleris ferrugana (Denis & Schiffermüller), A. hastiana (Linnaeus), A. rufana (Denis & Schiffermüller), A. umbrana (Hübner),? A. variegana (Denis & Schiffermüller),? Ancylis upupana (Treitschke), A. xylosteana (Linnaeus), Archips podana (Scopoli), A. rosana (Linnaeus), Cacoecimorpha pronobana (Hübner), Croesia forsskaliana (Linnaeus), Ephiphyas postvittana (Walker), (Lepidoptera: Tortricidae) (Stigenberg 2013; Stigenberg and Shaw 2013).
