Montana barretii Burr 1912

Description

Montana barretii (Burr, 1912) — Fig. 8 A.

Locality: Portugal, Madeira (N 32°45', W 17°00'), 1.viii—11.ix.1992, leg. D. Erber (1 male recorded). The song of M. barretii differs from the other species of this group, because the short verses do not contain microsyllables. Both types of verses, short and long, are made from one type of syllables only (Fig. 8 A). Short verses have durations between ca. 100–300 ms, long verses between 1.3–4.5 s.
