Description

Torridincolidae

Delevea namibiensis Endrödy-Younga, 1997

Described from the Northern Cape and Namibia and not apparently reported since. Abundant in the Oorlogskloof River (Site 11) below Driefontein Waterfall, where it was netted from small riffles. I have also found the species abundantly in drying, isolated pools in the Groen River, beside the N7, ca. 2 km S of Garies (Northern Cape), in October 2014 and September 2016.

Dineutus punctatus Aubé, 1838

A South African near-endemic, taken from deep pools in streams and rivers on the Bokkeveld. Sites 5 & 11.

* Aulonogyrus abdominalis (Aubé, 1838)

A widespread southern African species. Deep, slow pools at Site 5.

Aulonogyrus marginatus (Aubé, 1838)

Another southern African species known from South Africa, Lesotho and Botswana. Deep stream pools on sandstone at Site 12.

* Aulonogyrus splendidulus (Aubé, 1838)

Reported previously only from the Western and Eastern Cape provinces, in streams and rivers. Mixed with the last species at Site 12.
