Distribution. Western Atlantic—Bermuda, USA (North Carolina) to Brazil (seamounts of the North Brazilian Chain, Fernando de Noronha, Ceará to São Paulo). Central Atlantic — Ascension Island (Manning & Chace 1990; Christoffersen 1998; Coelho Filho 2006).

Previous records. Ubatuba (Duarte & Nalesso 1996; Morgado & Tanaka 2001); São Sebastião (Duarte & Nalesso 1996; Morgado & Tanaka 2001; Amaral et al. 2010); locality not mentioned (Christoffersen 1998).
