Neobisnius Ganglbauer 1895

Neobisnius Ganglbauer 1895: 464. Type species: Gabrius villosulus Stephens, 1833, designated by Lucas (1920: 434).

Notes: Neobisnius is a worldwide distributed genus including 72 species at present. Among them, 35 species have been reported from the Neotropical region. The New World species of the genus were revised by Frank (1981).

Argentina. Notes: Argentina distribution (Bruch 1928: 444); redescription, distribution Grenada (Frank 1981: 15); distribution within Brazil (Asenjo et al. 2013).

= Neobisnius flavomaculatus Bruch 1915: 501, attributed to Bernhauer in litteris (see flavomaculatus Bernhauer 1908: 336). Locality: San Luis. Distribution: Argentina. Notes: there are two specimens deposited at MACN under this name, one from San Luis and the other one from Buenos Aires (Argentina). The specimen from San Luis is, without any doubt, the one referred by Bruch (1915). It does not agree with the original description of the species (Bernhauer 1908: 336) and it is N. parcepunctatus Bernhauer. The specimen from Buenos Aires is N. flavomaculatus indeed.
