Genus Placiphorella Carpenter in Dall, 1879
Type species. Placiphorella velata Carpenter MS, OD Dall 1879.
Genus distribution and range. NW and NE Pacific Ocean (shallow water species, from intertidal zone to 60 m depth), Pacific Ocean, from the Bering Sea to New Zealand and Chile, South Indian Ocean and North Atlantic Ocean (deep-water species, from depth 100 to 2000 m). Miocene–Recent.
