Amberana marginata Fallou 1890

Description

Amberana marginata (Fallou, 1890)

(Figs 70–73)

Monecphora marginata Fallou, 1890: 351, transferred to Amberana by Jacobi, 1917: 520. Tomaspis schoutedeni Lallemand, 1910: 45, syn. by Jacobi, 1917: 520.

Male genitalia (Fig. 73). Pygofer high, slightly larger on upper part than lower part. Pygofer height: 2.2 mm. Subgenital plates long and strongly curved, diameter decreasing very slowly, apex slightly bulbous and covered with short setae, total length slightly greater than pygofer height (2.5 mm). Aedeagus developed anteriorly in a single pointed protrusion, sharply hook shaped, above this extension with a small bump, apex of aedeagus close to reach the level of dorsal margin of pygofer, anterior dorsal margin developed in an extension thumb shaped, posterior dorsal extension not cogged.

Nomenclatural note. In Fallou’s collection (MNHN), the mention “ type ” was not attached to the specimen present in the collection but written on the label placed at the bottom of the box along with the species name. Since only one representative for this species was present in the Fallou’s collection (along with a single pin hole in the place dedicated to this species in the original collection box), this specimen is recognised as being the holotype.
