Seroprevalence study and molecular detection of Foot and Mouth Disease in selected districts of Gamo Zone, Southern, Ethiopia
Description
The small holder livestock production is compromised in most developing countries due to widespread animal disease. Thus, foot and mouth disease is economically important endemic disease in most African countries including Ethiopia and had become the major constraint hampering export of livestock and livestock products recently in Ethiopia. Solving the aforementioned problem in the respective study area is mandatory through doing research on the epidemiology of the disease. Therefore, the present study was designed to determine the sero-prevalence of antibodies against FMDV, and assess potential risk factors associated with sero-prevalence of the disease in Gamo zone, southern, Ethiopia.
