The starting compound 2-hydrazino carbonyl-3-chloro-5-phenoxy-benzo(b)thiophene on reaction with different substituted phenyl isothiocyanates to give N-substituted arylthiosemicarbazide derivatives (1a-b). 1,2,4-Triazole derivatives (2a-h) have been prepared by the cyclization of arylthiosemicarbazides (la-b) with sodium hydroxide. All the compounds were screened for their antitubercular activity against Mycobacterium tuberculosis (H37Rv) and some other microbes.
