Stenobrachius nannochir
Description
Stenobrachius nannochir (Gilbert, 1890).
Garnet Lampfish. To 13.5 cm (5.3 in) TL (Gorbatenko and Il’inskii 1992). Japan (Wisner 1976, Shinohara et al. 1994), to southern Bering Sea (Mecklenburg et al. 2002), to Isla Guadalupe, central Baja California (Personal communication: Los Angeles County Museum of Natural History Fish Collection, Los Angeles, California). Depth: surface to 3,400 m (11,152 ft) (min.: Personal communication: Scripps Institution of Oceanography Fish Collection, La Jolla, California; max.: Federov et al. 2003). A record of 4,939 m (16,200 ft) (Personal communication: Scripps Institution of Oceanography Fish Collection, La Jolla, California) was based on the maximum depth fished by a midwater trawl and may represent a catch shallower than the maximum depth.
