Muslim Approaches To Respond Western Civilization (An Analysis In The Context Of Indian Subcontinent)

Description

This research paper examines the scholarly approaches of Muslims of 20th Century to respond to the modern western thought and its related issues in the context of Indian Subcontinent.  It is a fact that Islamic and Western thoughts have been active opponents throughout Islamic history. Several Muslim and Western scholars have been trying to discuss these issues in their own ways and styles.  In Subcontinent, Muslim scholars can be divided into three major groups to respond to the modern western thought and its related issues.  One group differs from western thought, it is called the traditional approach; the second group accepts the Western ideas unchangeably, it is called the Islamic modernist approach. The third most important approach is in between its acceptance and rejection. It is named as the Islamic revivalist approach. This approach is preferable and reasons will be discussed in the main body. In this study, historical and analytical research methodology has been adopted by using a qualitative approach.
