Halacarellus obsoletus Bartsch, 1995

Report associated with sponges: This species was reported among hexactinellid Rossella antarctica, R. nuda, R. racovitzae, and Anoxycalyx (Scolymastra) joubini (cited as Scolymastra joubini) collected from eastern Weddell Sea (Bartsch 1995).

Remarks: According to the mite's morphology, it is specialized for a life in sponge tissue (Bartsch 1995).
