Coding and Software Club at the Burnet Institute: a Sisyphean story of normalising peer-to-peer learning

This presentation outlines the Burnet Institute and its Coding and Software Club. What motivated the establishment of the Club and what keeps it going, the tools used to engage, teach and learn and finally, how the Club has impacted people at various levels of the organisation. Also explored are the challenges, opportunities and lessons learnt - valuable insights into what it tkaes to keep a community focused and enduring.

Speaker bio - Dr Anna Wilkinson is an early career public health researcher, with interests in epidemiology, biostatistics, maximising the use of data, and evaluating public health policy. Anna completed a PhD in 2016, which focussed on HIV epidemiology, and followed this with post-doctoral positions at Cancer Council Victoria and Burnet Institute, expanding not only her public health content knowledge but quantitative analysis skills. To further build her theoretical knowledge, Anna commenced a Master of Biostatistics in 2017, Australia's leading qualification in biostatistics, demonstrating a commitment to ongoing learning and a career in biostatistics.
