Type species Leptoecia abyssorum Chamberlin, 1919: 320, by original designation

Diagnosis. Frontal lips hemispherical, reduced or absent; subacicular hooks in median position; first pair of parapodia prolonged with auricular prechaetal lobes; two pairs of subulate ventral cirri; simple or pseudocompound falcigers on one or two pairs of anterior parapodia; anterior falcigers uni- or bidentate with blunt hoods; peristomial cirri absent; maxillae V absent; tubes secreted, quill-like, circular in cross-section or flattened dorsoventrally, with two longitudinal ribs.
