To 54 cm (21.3 in) TL (Personal communication: Scripps Institution of Oceanography Fish Collection, La Jolla, California). Southern California to Chile (Wisner and McMillan 1995). Benthic; depth: about 1,100 –2,440 m (3,609 –8,005 ft) (Wisner and McMillan 1995).
