Aliceia Dautzenberg & Fischer 1897

Description

Aliceia Dautzenberg & Fischer, 1897

Type species: Aliceia aenigmatica Dautzenberg & Fischer, 1897 by original designation

Remarks: Aliceia has a projection of the outer lip, forming a canal around the anal sinus. This projection is retained as the animal grows, similarly to Tylotia Melvill, 1917 and Eldridgea Barstch, 1934. The protoconch is keeled at the middle, sculptured with axial riblets on its lower portion, as seen in Famelica Bouchet & Warén, 1980. The genus, however, is unique in having a deep and broad umbilicus; this trait is not observed in any other turrid species.
