(Figs. 39 A–G, 56G–I)

Diagnostic remarks. This species is easily identifiable among other species of Eurycorypha by the combination of the presence of distinct pilosity on its legs, wide and rounded tegmina, dorsally convex lateral carinae of the pronotum (Fig. 39G), wide and flat male 10 th tergite (Fig. 39E), and the unique structure of the male cerci (Fig. 39F).

Bioacoustics. The call of E. cereris consists of 3 closely spaced syllables, followed by 4 short impulses, most likely produced by only one or few proximal teeth of the file hitting the scraper. Mean syllable duration is 0.0344 s (SD=0.00355, n=48); the peak frequency of the call is 10.0–16.4 kHz (Figs. 56 G–I). The call is audible from a distance of a few meters.

Distribution and natural history. E. cereris was described from KwaZulu-Natal in South Africa but specimens from Namibia, Zimbabwe, and Mozambique indicate a much broader distribution in the southern African region. In Mozambique this species has been so far recorded only from the Sofala province where adults can be bound throughout the year.

Measurements (2 males, 1 female). body w/wings: male 20–35 (27.510.6), female 34; body w/o wings: male 20–33 (26.59.2), female 20; pronotum: male 5–5.5 (5.3.4), female 5; tegmen: male 29–30 (29.5.7), female 30; hind femur: male 13, female 15; ovipositor: 7 mm.
