Sphyraena idiastes Heller & Snodgrass, 1903.
Pelican Barracuda. To 91 cm (35.8 in) (Robertson and Allen 2008). Laguna Guerro Negro (24°49’N, 114°122’W), central Baja California (González-Acosta et al. 2012) to Todos Santos (23°24.6’N, 110°13.8’W), southern Baja California) (John Snow, pers. comm. to M.L.); Gulf of California (González-Acosta et al. 2012); Colombia to Chile, and offshore islands (Robertson and Allen 2008). Depth: 0–100 m (328 ft) (min.: Robertson and Allen 2008; max.: Jiménez Prado and Béarez 2004).
