Description
Nematistius pectoralis Gill, 1862.
Roosterfish. To at least 191 cm (75.2 in) TL (Robertson and Allen 2008). San Clemente, southern California (Miller and Lea 1972) to Sur de Taltal, northern Chile (Sielfeld et al. 2010), including Gulf of California and Islas Galápagos (Miller and Lea 1972). Nearshore; depth: surface (Robertson and Allen 2002), and surf zone (M.L., pers. obs.) to 62 m (203 ft) (Sepulveda et al. 2015).
