Description

Opistognathus punctatus Peters, 1869.

Finespotted Jawfish. To 40.6 cm (16.2 in) TL (Thomson et al. 1979). Bahía San Ignacio, southern Baja California (Danemann and De La Cruz-Agüero 1993) into northern Gulf of California to Colombia (Robertson and Allen 2015). Benthic; depth: 1–24 m (4–80 ft) (min.: Personal communication: Scripps Institution of Oceanography Fish Collection, La Jolla, California; max.: Personal communication: Scripps Institution of Oceanography Fish Collection, La Jolla, California).
