Description

Trichocottus brashnikovi Soldatov & Pavlenko, 1915.

Hairhead Sculpin. To 22.5 cm (8.9 in) TL (Mecklenburg et al. 2002). Sea of Okhotsk and Tatar Strait, Sea of Japan (Mecklenburg et al. 2011) to Chukchi Sea as far north as 70°54’N, 164°34’W (Mecklenburg et al. 2011), and eastern Beaufort Sea as far east as 71°36’N, 155°02’W (Personal communication: University of Alaska Fairbanks Fish Collection, Fairbanks, Alaska), and eastern Bering Sea at Saint Matthew Island (60°39’N, 172°43’W) (Maslenikov et al. 2013). Benthic; depth: 7–90 m (23–295 ft), or perhaps to 320 m (1,050 ft) (Mecklenburg et al. 2016).
