Megalocottus platycephalus

Description

Megalocottus platycephalus (Pallas, 1814).

Belligerent Sculpin. To 42 cm (16.5 in) TL (Tokranov 1994). Sea of Japan at Peter the Great Bay to Sea of Okhotsk, and western Bering Sea, to Chukchi Sea off Chukchi Peninsula, and Beaufort Sea, off Point Barrow (Mecklenburg et al. 2011), and south to Herendeen Bay, eastern Bering Sea (Mecklenburg et al. 2002). Benthic; depth: 0–120 m (394 ft) (Federov et al. 2003). Often entering lower reaches of rivers (Mecklenburg et al. 2016).
