Myripristis leiognathus Valenciennes, 1846.

Panamic Soldierfish. To 19.2 cm (7.6 in) TL (Personal communication: Scripps Institution of Oceanography Fish Collection, La Jolla, California). Isla de Cedros (Ramírez-Valdez et al. 2015), and on mainland, Rocas Chester, central Baja California (M.L., unpubl. data) to upper Gulf of California (Schneider and Krupp in Fischer et al. 1995) to Peru (Robertson and Allen 2015), including Islas Galápagos (Grove and Lavenberg 1997). Depth: surface (Personal communication: Scripps Institution of Oceanography Fish Collection, La Jolla, California), 1–33 m (3–108 ft) (min.: Personal communication: Los Angeles County Museum of Natural History Fish Collection, Los Angeles, California; max.: Personal communication: Scripps Institution of Oceanography Fish Collection, La Jolla, California).
