Description

Melamphaes macrocephalus Parr, 1931.

To 13.3 cm (5.2 in) SL (Kotlyar 2011). Southern California (33°54’N, 121°42’W) (Personal communication: Scripps Institution of Oceanography Fish Collection, La Jolla, California) to Chile (Pequeño 1989). Depth: upper range of adults and half-grown fish is about 400–500 m (1,312 –1,640 ft) (Ebeling 1962).
