Description

Oxyporhamphus micropterus (Valenciennes, 1847).

Smallwing Flyingfish. To 22 cm (8.7 in) TL (Robertson and Allen 2002). Circumglobal; western Pacific Ocean north to Japan (Aizawa in Nakabo 2002); central Baja California (28°10’N, 115°54’W) (Personal communication:Scripps Institution of Oceanography Fish Collection, La Jolla, California) to Gulf of California (Robertson and Allen 2008) to northern Peru (Chirichigno and Vélez 1998), including Gulf of California (Collette in Fischer et al. 1995) and Islas Galápagos (Allen and Robertson 1994). Epipelagic; depth: surface to 6 m (20 ft) (min.: Watson in Moser 1996; max.: Fricke et al. 2019).
