Description
Exocoetus volitans Linnaeus, 1758.
Tropical Two-wing Flyingfish. To about 24 cm (9.4 in) TL (Parin 2003). Circumglobal; western Pacific Ocean north to Japan (Aizawa in Nakabo 2002); Todos Santos (23°24.6’N, 110°13.8’W), southern Baja California (John Snow, pers. comm. to M.L.) to Chile (Pequeño 1989), including Islas Galápagos (Grove and Lavenberg 1997). Primarily oceanic, also neritic (Watson in Moser 1996); depth: surface to 20 m (66 ft) (Robertson and Allen 2002).
