DEVELOPMENT OF AN AUTONOMOUS PROPULSION SYSTEM FOR SURFACE VESSELS

  • 1. UFRJ

Description

The present work aimed to develop an autonomous propulsion system that is interchangeable between small surface vessels. The work methodology involved the literature review of autonomous systems, in order to obtain an overview of the evolution of solutions for small boats. The work was developed with reference to the vessel's operational profile and technologies that can be procured in Brazil. In addition, the work involved the selection of engines and propellers, as well as the selection of electronic peripherals, software and systems control. The objective was the development, verification and validation of an autonomous propulsion system solution for small surface vessels. Finally, a system with excellent behavior in calm water and reasonable behavior in some cases with waves and winds was obtained. The simulations were capable to generate great results that allowed us to evaluate the performance of the autonomous platform against various circumstances.
