Hypomesus olidus

Description

Hypomesus olidus (Pallas, 1814).

Pond Smelt. To 20 cm (8 in) TL (Page and Burr 1991). North Korea and Japan to northern Siberia, and drainages of Canada and Alaska from Coronation Gulf, Northwest Territories to Copper River on the northeastern Gulf of Alaska coast (Mecklenburg et al. 2002). Freshwater species, only occasionally entering brackish water (Mecklenburg et al. 2002).
